Don’t forget to put your garden bins out!

Herefordshire Council’s new Garden Waste Collection Service is about to get underway! Everyone will get their first collection between Monday 30 March 2026 and Friday 10 April, so now’s the time to make sure your garden bin is ready.

Residents who have signed up for the service can now check when their bins will be collected using the Councils Check your bin collection day tool.

What can go in your garden bin?

Grass cuttings, hedge clippings, leaves, twigs, small branches, dead flowers, weeds, and windfall fruit. Everything collected will be turned into compost to support local green growth.

The service costs £60 per year — plus a £10 bin delivery fee — and is flexible: share bins with neighbours, add extra bins, or transfer your subscription if you move home.

Herefordshire Councils Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for the Environment, Cllr Elissa Swinglehurst, said:

“It’s nearly time for the first garden waste collections! Dont forget to put your bins out so you can be among the first to enjoy this convenient and eco-friendly service. And if you haven’t signed up yet, there’s still time — don’t miss out!”

Check your date and make sure your bin is out , and get ready to keep your garden tidy, green, and growing.

Haven’t signed up yet? There’s still time — join in and be part of Herefordshire’s new Garden Waste Collection Service.
