Bin collection times brought forward this week due to hot weather
Residents in some areas are being asked to put their bins out earlier than usual this week due to temporary changes to collection times during the hot weather.
FCC Environment, Herefordshire Council’s waste and recycling contractor, has advised that collections on Wednesday and Thursday will start 30 minutes earlier than normal, at 6am instead of 6.30am.
This temporary change is to allow the collection crews an opportunity to finish a little earlier than usual, to avoid the worst of the sun, as temperatures are forecast to rise to over 30 degrees in Herefordshire.
Residents are asked to ensure their bins are placed out the night before, or no later than 6am on collection day, to make sure they are not missed.
Herefordshire Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Culture and Environment, Councillor Elissa Swinglehurst, said:
“We are asking residents to please take note of this temporary change to bin collection times during the hot weather this week.
“Crews will be starting earlier than usual at 6am on Wednesday and Thursday to help manage working conditions in higher temperatures.
“To make sure your bin is collected, please put it out the night before or by 6am on your usual collection day.
“We would like to thank residents for their understanding and cooperation while these temporary adjustments are in place.”
Residents are encouraged to check the Council’s waste and recycling webpages for updates.
