New Peterchurch Primary School on track to open this autumn

Construction work is on track in Peterchurch as the new primary school takes shape and work is well underway inside the building.

The ambitious project, backed by a £10 million investment from Herefordshire Council, includes the redevelopment of the existing school site to provide a high quality, modern school for the Golden Valley area.

Tilbury Douglas, a leading UK building, infrastructure, engineering and fit-out business were appointed to deliver the state-of-the-art school building.

The new facility will cater for 140 students, reflecting the Council’s commitment to providing sufficient school places to meet the needs of rural communities.

The project is on track to open the doors to the new school and the outdoor facilities as planned this autumn.

Headteacher of Peterchurch Primary School, Mrs Nia Powell, said: “We are thrilled to see the great progress that’s been made on site - it feels like our shared vision is now coming to life! We’re excited for the time when we can welcome our school community into our brand-new facilities."
Councillor Harry Bramer, Cabinet Member for Community Services and Assets, added: “We are delighted to see the £10 million school building and outdoor facilities taking shape. The project is on track to deliver a new school for Peterchurch during the autumn.”
Councillor Ivan Powell, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “We are committed to ensuring that every child in Herefordshire has access to modern, inclusive, and inspiring learning environments and we look forward to opening a new primary school that will benefit the children and families in the Golden Valley for generations to come.”
David Tighe, Regional Director - West Midlands at Tilbury Douglas, commented: “We’re really pleased with the progress that we’ve made with the new school building and the outdoor areas. We are fully focused on delivering a top-quality school building in the autumn.”
