Free summer holiday activities for children – with a free healthy meal at every session!
Children across the county can look forward to an action‑packed summer, as bookings open for Herefordshire Council’s Here for Herefordshire holiday activities programme – offering free fun activities and a free healthy meal at every session.
The programme provides children receiving benefits‑related free school meals, from reception age to year 11, access to a wide range of exciting activities throughout the holidays.
Eligible families can book up to 16 free sessions (around 64 hours) that will run between 27 July and 22 August, helping to keep children active and well‑nourished during the school break.
Last summer’s scheme attracted over 1,000 children and this year’s programme promises to be bigger than ever! With more than 30 local providers involved, there’s a wide range of exciting activities on offer and include everything from pony days, trampolining, cheerleading, parkour, football and pottery, to creative and group activities - all delivered by local providers in safe and supportive environments.
Every activity session includes a nutritious meal at no cost, ensuring children are well-fed while learning new skills and having fun.
Parents and carers can book their child’s activity sessions online now via the council's online Talk Community Directory.
Councillor Ivan Powell, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “We know that keeping children occupied during the summer holidays can be costly for many families. This programme helps to ease that pressure by offering a fun, varied programme of free activities. Importantly, every child who attends receives a healthy meal at each session, which supports their wellbeing as well as their enjoyment.
“The scheme is extremely popular every year, so we encourage parents and carers to book early to avoid disappointment.”
