Local people’s input sought to help shape future community activities for adults with care and support needs

We are asking people with lived experience to help develop the range of type of community activities on offer in future for adults with care and support needs.

We want to hear from you if you currently attend a community activity, and you are an adult with care and support needs. We also want to hear from people who will be accessing community activities in the future, as well as parents and carers of people who access these services. The council may pay for this service directly, or you may use methods such as direct payments to pay for them, or you may fund the activities yourself.

By ‘community activities’ we mean both those activities targeted specifically at individuals who have care and support needs (e.g. a craft group for individuals with a learning disability) and those that are open to everybody where individuals could attend with support, if needed, from a family member, friend or paid carer (e.g. a dance class in the local community centre).

The survey will help us to understand how those with care and support needs currently spend their day times, the sorts of thing they like to do and how we can continue to meet their needs with appropriate community activities in the future.

Councillor Carole Gandy, Cabinet Member for Adults, Health and Wellbeing at Herefordshire Council, said:

“We want to make sure that we make informed decisions when shaping future community activities for adults with care and support needs. To help us to do this, we need to hear from those who use the services now, those who may want to use them in the future and also parents and carers of the people who need such support"

The survey is open now and will close at midnight on Saturday 31 January 2026. You can access it online. There is also an online Easy Read version of the survey available.
