Partners seek Independent Chair to lead Pride in Place to Hereford South West

Hereford and South Herefordshire MP Jesse Norman and Herefordshire Council are inviting applications for an Independent Chair to lead the Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board in Hereford South West.

This follows the government’s announcement that Hereford South West, covering Hunderton and Newton, will receive up to £20 million of investment over the next 10 years.
The new Independent Chair will help to recruit and lead a Neighbourhood Board representing local residents, businesses, community groups and public sector partners to shape how the funding is used and to develop a long-term Pride in Place Plan for the area.

The Chair and Board will be responsible for engaging extensively with the local community to identify priorities, develop a shared vision and agree the activities and projects to be supported through the programme.

The voluntary role offers a unique opportunity for a local community leader to bring people together, champion the area and help shape its future. The Chair will work with partners to create a shared vision and priorities for Hunderton, Newton Farm and surrounding communities.

A dedicated website has been launched this week, with more information about the project. Interested parties can use the website to apply for the role of Independent Chair of the Hereford South West Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board.

Hereford and South Herefordshire MP Jesse Norman said:

"This is a fantastic win for the city, and South Wye in particular. Now we need great local community leaders to join us and help to drive this project forward.”

Herefordshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Growth, Cllr Graham Biggs, said:

“Pride in Place is a major opportunity for the south of Hereford to shape its future and secure a bright future for residents and businesses. We are looking for someone who is passionate about their community and can bring people together and help create a shared vision for the area. You don’t need formal board experience -- what matters most is commitment, credibility and the ability to listen and lead collaboratively.”

The application website: www.prideinplacehfds.org provides more information and allows people to submit their application.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 15 March 2026.
