Herefordshire students are celebrating another strong year of A Level success, with an impressive 98.7% pass rate (A*-E). This exceeds both the West Midlands average of 97.4% and the national average for England of 97.9%, highlighting the dedication, hard work and talent of students across the county.

The results reflect the commitment of students, teachers, school leaders and families, whose collective efforts have helped young people achieve excellent outcomes and progress to higher education, apprenticeships and employment opportunities.

Councillor Ivan Powell, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, praised the achievements:

“Congratulations to our Herefordshire students receiving their A level grades and to those receiving their national exam results today.

“Thank you to all of the Herefordshire’s teachers, the support staff and everyone working in our schools and colleges for your dedication to making sure students progress onto further education, training or employment.

“We wish our young people well in the next stage of life, whether in work or continuing in education and we hope that as we work to expand career opportunities in the county, many of them will stay with us in Herefordshire.”

GCSE results will be released to pupils on Thursday 20 August 2026.

Free local A level and GCSE support and advice

The Hereford Youth Employment Hub is offering a series of free information sessions to young people receiving their A level and GCSE results to help with the next steps.

Friendly staff will be on hand to provide guidance on further education, career pathways, college courses, apprenticeships and training, plus confidence building and wellbeing.

No need to make an appointment, just drop into one of the following sessions:

The National Careers Service can provide help and advice with your exam results and the next steps you can take.  Speak to a trained careers advisor by calling 0800 100 900 from 8am - 8pm Monday - Friday or 10am - 5pm on Saturdays and bank holidays, or visit the National Careers Service website where you can chat to an advisor online.

We understand that receiving your exam results can be a worrying time, but it’s important to remember that you are not alone and help is available. The following organisations offer free mental health and wellbeing support for young people.

The YoungMinds website or has special guides for young people providing practical advice and information on where you can find support.
