Funding offered for small projects to improve community connections and mental wellbeing
Local people and groups across Herefordshire can get up to £250 towards a new or existing project that could make communities stronger and improve mental health and wellbeing.
Through our joint suicide prevention programme with Worcestershire, we are offering grants for activity that is led by residents, whether individuals, community groups, or small charities and will benefit their local areas and the people living there.
The Herefordshire and Worcestershire Microgrants Scheme is now open for 2026. The application process is easy via the Micro Grants for Neighbourhood and Community Groups - Application Form or for an informal chat, contact hwbadmin@worcestershire.gov.uk
Cllr Carole Gandy, Herefordshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Adults, Health and Wellbeing, said:
“The very best ideas about making life better for people, improving our mental well-being and staying connected to others come from local communities. Please do get in touch if you have an idea or an existing project that could benefit from some extra funding and make a difference for people where you live.”
Funding can support existing projects or groups, or new ideas. Each year around 15 different projects have been funded, and we are now seeking applications for new grants. Criteria to be awarded funding are straightforward:
- Funded activities will help connect people, build stronger communities, and support foster positive mental health and wellbeing.
- The grant of up to £250 can be used to create a new project or improve an existing group or project. It can include buying goods or a service.
- These activities will help connect people, build stronger communities, and foster positive mental health and wellbeing.
- Individuals, community groups and smaller volunteer-led organisations and charities (turnover less than £100,000) based in Herefordshire or Worcestershire.
- Activities must take place in either county and be led by residents.
