New community board chair appointed to help shape £20m investment in Hereford South West
Hereford South West has a new community champion, with Paul Rone appointed as Independent Chair of the Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board.
Paul Rone is a prominent member of the local community, a local businessman, who has previously played a key role in the regeneration of this area of Herefordshire. A former local councillor, Paul, will now lead the board bringing together residents, businesses, community groups and public sector partners to help shape how up to £20 million of investment is used in the area over the next 10 years.
The Pride in Place programme will support long-term investment in the communities of Hunderton, Newton Farm and surrounding neighbourhoods, with the board working alongside local people to develop a shared vision and priorities for the area.
Hereford and South Herefordshire MP Jesse Norman said:
"This is a terrific start, both for Pride in Place and for Hereford. This 10-year programme needs a chair who is experienced, dynamic and rooted in the local community.
“Paul is all of those things. With him in the lead, we can make a really significant impact on local regeneration."
Independent Chair Paul Rone said:
“I’m honoured to take on this role and help bring people together to shape the future of their community. Pride in Place is a real opportunity for residents, businesses and local organisations to work together to identify what matters most and make a lasting difference in Hereford South West.”
Herefordshire Council's Cabinet Member for Economy and Growth, Graham Biggs, said:
“This is great news for Hereford South West. Paul brings a wealth of experience and a strong understanding of the area.
“He is a hands-on community member who cares deeply about the neighbourhood and will put the interests of local people first. His leadership will help ensure the Pride in Place programme is shaped by the community and delivers real benefits for residents.”
The Pride in Place programme is designed to strengthen communities, support thriving neighbourhoods and give local people a stronger voice in shaping the future of their area.
