These enhancements are designed to support students travelling to and from college and offer residents more reliable and frequent public transport options.

Among the most impactful changes is the introduction and adjustment of several services to ensure students can reach their colleges safely and efficiently:

Service 444 has been introduced to cover Peterchurch and Dorstone in the Golden Valley during morning and afternoon peak times on college days. This change ensures students who previously relied on the T14 from Brecon, now discontinued by Powys County Council, and the replacement services (X44 and X15) now not covering Golden Valley, can still access education in Hereford.

Service 802 (Lugg Valley), previously a commercial route, was withdrawn by the operator earlier this year. In response, the council arranged a private bus for students for the remainder of the term and has now reinstated the service as a publicly subsidised route, open to all passengers and allowing students to get to college.

Service 811 (Yeomans) has changed from a closed school service to one that can now also be used by the general public.

Service 476 has had its timetable adjusted to better align with college start and finish times, further improving access for students.

These changes reflect the council’s commitment to ensuring that no student is left without a viable transport option to pursue their education. They have been made possible through the latest round of Bus Service Improvement Plan Plus (BSIP+) funding.
