Pip, pip! New opportunities for babies and toddlers to play at the museum

Herefordshire Museums & Galleries has announced a new series of monthly activity groups for babies and early years children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities.

‘Baby Pips’ (for children aged 0-2 years), ‘Little Pips’ (for children aged 2-4 years) and ‘Twinkle Pips’ for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) will be held monthly at the History Store, Friar’s Street, Hereford HR4 0AS from this month.

Each session will be themed and provide opportunities for children and their carers to enjoy sensory play, storytelling and fun activities and to connect, explore and learn in a warm and welcoming environment.

  • Baby Pips will take place between 10.30am and 12 noon from Monday 13 October, then every second Monday of the month thereafter.
  • Little Pips will take place between 10.30am and 12 noon from Tuesday 14 October, then every second Tuesday of the month thereafter.
  • Twinkle Pips will take place between 1pm and 2.30pm from Monday 10 November, then the second Monday of the month thereafter.

All sessions cost £5 per child with their accompanying adult. Advance booking is required via the Hereford Museums Eventbrite webpage.

Damian Etheraads, Head of Culture, Museums, Libraries and Archives at Herefordshire Council, said:

These sessions are about so much more than play. They give babies and toddlers a chance to explore, discover and grow in a stimulating environment, while offering parents and carers a friendly space to meet others and share experiences. Each session supports early learning through simple activities that build curiosity, confidence and communication, helping to lay the foundations for children’s development. They’re also a wonderful way for parents to connect with others and feel part of a welcoming community.
