Free expert advice and support is on hand to keep your home warm this winter
Today is Fuel Poverty Awareness Day and Herefordshire Council is using the occasion to remind residents of the free energy advice and support available to them.
‘Keep Herefordshire Warm’ is a trusted advice service provided by YES Energy Solutions on behalf of Herefordshire Council. It is free to use and aims to help you stay warm and save money this winter, whether you’re a homeowner, tenant or landlord.
Last year, around 1,100 residents benefited from the Keep Herefordshire Warm service, saving them an average of £500 per year.
There are lots of simple ways to save energy in your home and many of these will cost you nothing at all. For example, our advisors can provide top tips on insulation, heating, hot water, lighting and how to use your electrical appliances most efficiently. The advice is tailored to meet your individual circumstances and preferences and will help you to save money and protect the environment.
The service also has access to a number of energy efficiency grants that can be used for a wide range of home energy improvements, for example boiler service, repairs or installations.
One resident who received support from the service, commented: “You have been so helpful …. It is such a huge relief that my son’s window will be done as it is about to fall apart …”. Another added: “The advice was helpful – a lot of common-sense tips that many people would usually miss.” A third stated that the service was “very professional and helpful”.
Councillor Elissa Swinglehurst, Cabinet Member for the Environment and Deputy Leader at Herefordshire Council, said:
Herefordshire Council is committed to supporting residents to be more energy efficient and save money whilst keeping warm this winter. With that in mind, I would urge all Herefordshire residents to seek advice from the Keep Herefordshire Warm service as the more energy efficient our homes are then the less they will cost to heat and keep warm. Residents may also be able to access financial support with home energy improvements that will help to save money and that are beneficial for our environment. Whatever your need, the Keep Herefordshire Warm service lets you choose the level of support that best suits you.
