‘Floodmobile’ heading to Herefordshire to support people affected by flooding

Following recent flooding in parts of Herefordshire, the ‘Floodmobile’ is coming to the county in December to support flood resilience efforts.

The innovative Floodmobile showcases lots of examples of property flood resilience to help people understand the various ways they can protect their home or business from flooding to minimise disruption and damage.

Flooding advisor Mary Long-Dhonau OBE (also known as ‘Flood Mary’) and representatives from Herefordshire Council and Environment Agency, will be on hand to answer any questions and provide advice.

The ‘Floodmobile’ will be open to all local people in the following times and locations:

  • Tuesday 2 December - 11.00am – 5.00pm, Wellington Social Club
  • Wednesday 3 December - 11.00am – 5.00pm, Ewyas Harold Memorial Hall (EA and Council representatives will be at the hall to offer advice until 7.00pm).

Cllr Dan Hurcomb, Cabinet Member for Local Engagement and Community Resilience, said: “We’re delighted to see the ‘Floodmobile’ come to our county to offer advice to those affected by flooding.

“The Floodmobile provides useful information to help people improve the flooding resilience of their property. It also offers an opportunity to ask questions of Mary Long-Dhonau OBE, a distinguished expert in flooding advice and other professionals involved in flood risk management.

“I would encourage local people to visit the ‘Floodmobile’ and view our online resources to reflect on how we can all work to improve flooding resilience in Herefordshire.”

The flooding web pages now include a section hosting live information about flood warnings and river levels. This feature is an important resource for people to keep an eye on current and upcoming flooding risks, helping to boost preparedness across the county.
