Council unanimously endorses Corporate Parenting Strategy

At its meeting today, Friday 7 March 2025, Herefordshire Council endorsed the Corporate Parenting Strategy 2025-2027.

The strategy sets out the council’s ambition, actions and the outcomes that we need to achieve as the Corporate Parent of children and young people in Herefordshire.

Leader of Herefordshire Council, Councillor Jonathan Lester, said:

“Today Council has unanimously endorsed a strategy that reinforces our responsibilities as corporate parents of Herefordshire children.

“This document will now be embedded in everything we do as a council, and our work with partners, to support our children and young people to ensure they have the best possible start in life and the opportunity to thrive.”

Councillor Ivan Powell, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People said:

“The Corporate Parenting Strategy is more than just a document. It clearly lays out our responsibilities to the children and young people in our care and leaving our care.

“We recognise that care experienced children and young people can face additional challenges in their lives, and as corporate parents we will support them, along with our partners, to achieve the best possible outcomes in all parts of their lives.”

The Corporate Parenting Strategy is available to view on the council’s website.
