Search for Potential Special School Site in Leominster
Landowners, developers, parish councils, and other interested parties are invited to share information about land that could support the future redevelopment of a council funded specialist school in the Leominster area.
The council is working with the Department for Education (DfE) to explore options for rebuilding the existing Westfield School in Leominster, which supports children and young people aged 2 to 19 with severe and complex learning difficulties.
As part of this early School Rebuilding Programme project work, the council is seeking to identify parcels of land in the region of 15,000 to 18,000 square metres that could be suitable for redevelopment, should a new site be required.
The outcome of the DfE feasibility process will inform next steps, and no decisions have been made at this stage about whether a new site is needed.
The council remains committed to providing children and young people with modern, inclusive, and high-quality schools within local communities to reduce the need for travel.
Councillor Harry Bramer, Cabinet Member for Community Services and Assets, said: “Our priority is to give all children the best start in life. Every child deserves access to highly effective schools and the best possible education.
“Local knowledge is key to this project and we need the help of landowners, developers, and parish councils to help us identify sites that could be used for a new school if needed.
“Please submit any potential sites that meet the criteria as soon as possible so assessments can begin.”
