Herefordshire set to welcome Baton of Hope in 2025

On World Suicide Prevention Day (Tuesday 10 September) Herefordshire Council is excited to announce that it will be part of the UK’s largest suicide prevention initiative when the Baton of Hope visits

World Suicide Prevention Day serves as a reminder that suicide is preventable with the right intervention, care, and understanding.

The Baton of Hope national campaign is dedicated to increasing awareness, fostering hope, and inspiring action to reduce suicide rates across the country.

Here in Herefordshire, we are committed to engaging our community, supporting local initiatives, and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health.

Cate Carmichael, Director of Public Health, Herefordshire, said:

“Through being part of the Baton of Hope tour next year, we aim to create a culture of understanding and support, ultimately saving lives.”

”Our Orange Button community will be present throughout the Baton of Hope day offering signposting to relevant resources. We will increase mental health information in public areas, such as notice boards, public facilities and public transport.

“We invite the people of Herefordshire to join us in standing up to suicide and creating an open, supportive environment for all.”

Find out more information on the event, on how you can get involved, see the route and much more on our dedicated Baton of Hope Talk Community page.
