Lengths of road have been identified for resurfacing works following detailed and comprehensive surface and structural condition surveys. These surveys help us to objectively prioritise where we need to invest across our highway network.

Cllr Barry Durkin, Cabinet Member for Roads and Regulatory Services, said: “Our approach to repairing and maintaining Herefordshire's highway network is always to carry out the right treatment at the right time in the right location.

“Resurfacing is an extensive method which is most appropriate for roads that are near the end of their life or where there may be significant structural issues. This method can potentially extend the life of the road for 15-25 years and involves the removal of the existing road surface, remedial works being carried out to the structural layers of the road and then a new road surface being laid.

“This resurfacing is part of an additional Herefordshire Council investment of £12million this year, and will help to deliver quicker, safer and smoother journeys, and strengthen the resilience of our roads network.”
