Hereford Library has moved to a temporary home
Hereford Library is now based at the Museum Resource and Learning Centre (MRLC), 58 Friars Street. Parking is available in the public car park on Friars Street.
This temporary arrangement will be in place until Saturday 12 October 2024. While the Shirehall undergoes its two-year renovation, Hereford Library will relocate on an interim basis to the Town Hall. The new library space at the Town Hall will open on Tuesday 22 October 2024.
Opening hours
Hereford temporary library is open:
- Tuesday to Friday 9.30am to 5pm
- Saturday 9.30am to 4pm
You will be able to borrow books and other items from the temporary library in the same way as now.
On the ground floor there's a welcome desk, printing and copying, self-service kiosks, quick-pick stock (popular titles), reservations and click and collect. There's a lift and stairs to the first floor, where you'll find around 3,000 books, including a dedicated children's library space.
There will also be public network computers, public wi-fi and space to sit and work. From Tuesday 23 July 2024, computer use is restricted to 1 hour per day due to high demand.
You can borrow books and other items from the temporary library in the same way as now.

Parking for Hereford Library on Friars Street
Parking is available at Friars Street Car Park (Military Club). There is limited disabled parking at the MRLC. Friars Street car park is in Zone 3 - see other car parks nearby.
