Training and development
At Herefordshire Council, we've invested significantly in our learning offer. Shaped by feedback from staff, we run a variety of training sessions, workshops and events throughout the year, partnering with experts.
Our comprehensive My Learning Hub platform includes over 100 online webinars and resources on topics including personal development, management and leadership, wellbeing, equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). This offer complements regularly scheduled face to face training sessions.
We have an additional suite of training available for line managers to support leadership and management development. This includes popular topics such as delegation and empowerment skills, new content for coaching skills workshops and modules including 'Managing Effective Teams' and 'Mastering High Performance Teams'.
Wellbeing

We have four key pillars of wellbeing, encompassing, mental health, financial health, social health and physical health. All four are intrinsically linked to each other to create an overall feeling of wellness.

Our social wellbeing resources include:
- Employee network groups - We encourage our employees to feel empowered and to use their voices to help embrace diversity, promote inclusivity and shape our organisation. We have eight employee network groups, collectives of colleagues who often share identities, life experiences or cultures and offer support and community. They also play an important role in strengthening the voices of employees at Herefordshire Council. Embedded in the Council's values is a commitment to listen to people's views and needs. Our network groups currently are: Armed Forces Network, Black and Asian Staff Network, Climate and Nature Network, Diff-Abilities Network, Early Careers Connections Network, LGBTQ+ Network, Parent and Carers Together Network and the VOICE Network.
- Social engagement events throughout the year, including all staff masterclasses and national celebrations days.
- Volunteering opportunities, where the council supports colleagues to take up to two working days' leave with pay, per year to volunteer in Herefordshire.
