Preparing for adulthood (SEN)
Moving into adulthood can be a challenging time for all young people and particularly for those with Special Educational Needs and disabilities. It is never too early to think about transition and the aspirations of young people should be at the heart of all planning. Young people and their families and carers may however be unsure about what to expect and where to get advice, support or information to help make decisions at this key time.
The four areas in which we can work together to set expectations and plan how to meet them are:
- Education, training and employment
- Healthy living
- Living independently
- Friends, relationships and community
Young people and their families and carers will continue to work with and have the support of the relevant key services and agencies in planning and making arrangements to support this important transition.
WISH website provides information, advice and links to services to support healthy living, living with a disability and details of a range of local activities and community groups, to support developing links with friends and in the community.
