The dangers, the dramas and the day to day routine at Rotherwas in WW1 and WW2 Employing mainly women, Rotherwas opened in 1916 as a munitions filling factory. Covering more than 300 acres with more than 370 buildings it was one of the largest explosive filling sites in the UK. The site was bombed during the Second World War, in 1942, and suffered a major explosion in 1944.
