The Mesolithic in the Marches; Geochemical Lithic Sourcing in the Lower Wye Valley by Dr. Tom Elliot
The Mesolithic in the Marches; Geochemical Lithic Sourcing in the Lower Wye Valley The British Mesolithic ran from about 9000-4300 years ago, one of it’s defining features is the use of small stone tools, microliths, by highly mobile families and communities who are travelling across and settling in the landscape. As flint is not present in the geology of Herefordshire the aim of this talk is to show where in the wider landscape the materials used in Herefordshire Mesolithic artefacts were originally sourced.
