Design a Heraldic Shield

Design your own coat of arms in this fun, hands on medieval heraldry workshop for children.

Colourful shields made from card decorated with craft gems and gold strips

Young makers can craft and decorate their own shield using bold colours, symbols and patterns inspired by real medieval designs.

Along the way, they’ll learn what different shapes, animals and colours meant in the Middle Ages, and how people once used heraldry to tell stories about their families, achievements and skills.

A creative, imaginative activity perfect for curious minds and budding medieval heroes!
