This two-day hedgelaying course takes place near Bromyard and is led by Richard Clarke of Really Rural, an experienced hedgelayer who has taught this traditional countryside craft to learners of all levels.

Hedgelaying is a time-honoured method of managing hedgerows, cutting and bending the stems of overgrown or gappy hedges to create a dense, stock-proof barrier that also boosts biodiversity and provides vital wildlife habitat.

Over the two days, participants will learn the full process, from assessing a hedge and selecting the right technique through to laying, staking and finishing a section by hand. The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those looking to build on existing skills, and all tools and equipment are provided, so there's nothing to bring beyond suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.

It's a practical, hands-on two days spent outdoors, working alongside an expert who can answer questions and offer guidance throughout.

This is a great opportunity to learn a genuinely useful rural skill while contributing to the health of Herefordshire's hedgerows and wildlife.

The course costs £95 per person and is open to ages 18 and over.

Places are limited to keep the group small and ensure everyone gets proper individual attention, so early booking is recommended.
