This two-day hedgelaying course runs near Bromyard and is led by Richard Clarke of Really Rural, drawing on years of hands-on experience teaching this traditional countryside craft. Hedgelaying rejuvenates overgrown or thinning hedgerows by cutting and bending the stems to form a thick, living barrier, restoring the hedge's structure while creating valuable habitat for birds, insects and small mammals. 

Across the two days, participants will be guided through the whole process: reading a hedge, choosing the right approach for its condition, and laying, staking and finishing a stretch by hand under expert supervision. The course welcomes complete beginners alongside those wanting to refine skills they already have, and all necessary tools and equipment are included, so attendees simply need to come dressed for a day outdoors. It's a practical, immersive way to learn a skill that's both traditional and genuinely useful for anyone managing land or hedgerows.

The course costs £95 per person and is open to ages 18 and over.
