In this relaxed, hands on session, Jane will introduce the distinctive motifs, techniques and visual language of traditional canal and wagon art.

Participants will explore colour, pattern and symbolism before creating their own painted piece to take home. No prior experience is needed, and all materials are provided.

The workshop is part of Roots, Research & Representation – A Day of Heritage and Art, a project curated with GRT curators that celebrates how heritage, creativity and lived experience intersect.

Discover more earlier in the day, you can also join Tales from the History Store  a free event taking place from 2.30 to 3.30pm again in the History Store, a behind the scenes tour revealing objects and stories connected to GRT history in Herefordshire.

The two events are designed to complement one another but can be booked separately.

Tickets for the Jane O’Connor workshop are available on Eventbrite
