Collections on tour: The Two Emperor Coin

Join Collections Information Officer Alfred Williams to learn about Alfred the Great and what the two emperor coin teaches us about him

Man holding 3 coins

Join Alfred Williams, Collections Information Officer and Mastermind finalist, to hear about his specialist subject, Alfred the Great. He will explore how the Two Emperor coins found with the Herefordshire Hoard reveal the political propaganda that shaped how we view the past.

These small but significant items hint at an alliance unrecorded by history, and offer a fresh perspective on resistance to the Vikings, and the dangerous world of Saxon royal politics.
