This policy is a statement of what the council intends to do to ensure its compliance with the Act.

The Data Protection Policy will apply to all council employees, volunteers, contractors and to staff members of NHS bodies with whom we work who handle council data in joint teams.

The policy will provide a framework within which the council will ensure compliance with the requirements of the Act and will underpin any operational procedures and activities connected with the implementation of the Act.
