Get Walking privacy notice - Privacy notices

Get Walking is operated by our partner Ian Campbell Consulting. You sign up by completing a registration at www.herefordwalk.org or when you download one of the Get Walking apps.

When you register we need to collect the following data:

• Contact information, such as full name and email address
• Username and password
• Demographic information such as gender, age category and height
• All content that you create, share or post in audio, video, text, images and other media or software files that you provide on or through the service
• User communications, feedback, suggestions and ideas sent to us, and
• Information that you provide to us when you contact us for support regarding the service

All personal data held is processed in accordance with data protection law. The data controller for the information outlined in this privacy notice is Herefordshire Council and Ian Campbell Consulting is the data processor.

Once submitted, we will not share your personal information with any other party. We are committed to protecting your privacy and security at all times. Whenever you provide personal information, we will treat that information with confidence in accordance with this policy, current UK Data Protection legislation and Internet best practice.

We will use the information that we collect to provide, develop and improve the service.

Examples of such use include:

• Using your height to accurately measuring activity (distance to steps) logged through the service
• Communicating with you regarding your use of the service and any associated prize draws
• Enhancing the security and safety of the service
• Personalising your experiences as part of the service, for a better user experience
• Developing new tools and products for the service
• Conducting data and system analytics, including overall use of and engagement with the service and research to improve the service. In these circumstances, we will use anonymised/aggregated data

The legal basis for processing the data is:

• Your explicit consent which you can withdraw at any time by notifying us at move@herefordshire.gov.uk Please note, withdrawal of consent to process your data will necessitate cancelling your registration with Get Walking

We will not pass your information to any third parties without your consent (other than site owners/managers).

The council employees who have access to your personal data and are associated with the handling of that data, are obliged to respect the confidentiality of your personal data. The council employees referred to in this clause shall be restricted to those involved in the administration and running of the scheme.

We will only keep your information until you choose to opt out or the scheme is discontinued. All information will be held securely and destroyed under confidential conditions.

You have a number of rights under data protection law, including the right to request your information and to request that the information is amended or erased if incorrect.

To request your records, you will need to provide proof of identification and write to the Information Governance Team, Herefordshire Council, Plough Lane, Hereford HR4 0LE or email informationgovernance@herefordshire.gov.uk

You also have the right to make a complaint about our handling of your personal data to the Information Commissioner's Office.
