Hereford city trees scheme privacy notice

Introduction

This privacy notice explains how we use any personal information gathered about you, when you apply for a tree.

When you complete the application form for a tree, you will be asked for your name, address, contact details, preference for a tree, location for planting and the size of your garden space.

Purpose of the data processing

Herefordshire Council is the data controller under data protection law and we are working in partnership with Frank P. Matthews Ltd who are the data processors regarding your data.

Information held about you

The information that you provide will only be used to determine your eligibility for a tree, to contact you to arrange and make delivery, and for the council to check that delivery has taken place. As well as plot the approximate location of tree planting for audit and publicity purposes.

The information you provide will only be used for these purposes, and will not be used for direct marketing purposes.

Who is processing your data

The legal basis for processing your data is that it is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest regarding the protection of the environment.

How we will use the information we hold about you

Your information will not be shared further by Herefordshire Council or Frank P. Matthews Ltd.

How the law allows us to use your information

We will keep your data for the period of time required by the government for auditing the grant scheme funding this project.

How long we keep your personal information

Individuals have a number of rights under data protection law, including the right to request their information. You also have a right to make a complaint about our handling of your personal data to the Information Commissioner's Office.
