Common Tern
Description
Reducing climate change impact
Species measure 1
Create islands in gravel pit lakes, provide nest shelters and undertake predator control
Species measure 1 description
The Common Tern is a migratory seabird that breeds in wetland habitat (both coastal and inland), and nests on sandy and gravelly shorelines and islands. Constructing islands within gravel pit lakes will provide a greater area of nesting habitat for this species, and efforts to reduce predator impacts will also improve their breeding success.
