Code
SP 16
Priority species or species assemblage
Oak Polypore Buglossoporus quercinus
Wider environmental benefits
Reducing climate change impact
Species measure 1
Retain fallen deadwood
Species measure 1 description
This fungus requires fallen deadwood, in particular dead oak branches or trunks, to remain where fallen rather than management to cut and pile the deadwood. This will ensure that the moisture from the ground is retained to support this species. Land near to the trees should not be disturbed and if piles of deadwood are required these should be stored away from trunks.
