Cuckoos migrate to Britain to breed in the summer months, famously laying their eggs in the nests of other birds for them to raise. Cuckoos occur in a wide variety of habitats, but scrub and reedbed creation have been highlighted as target habitats to help cuckoo populations in Herefordshire. Measures which will lead to an increase in invertebrates, especially species with hairy caterpillars, will also help cuckoo population recovery.
