Increase education of the importance of scrub and mosaic habitats

Description

Scrub and mosaic habitats are often underappreciated and may give the appearance of a “messy” or unmanaged area. Education programmes within schools, public engagement including with landowners and land managers, should be implemented to ensure the value of scrub and mosaic habitats is shared more widely.

Priority description

Scrub and mosaic habitats may often be overlooked habitats, but they provide vital homes for a diversity of wildlife, and act as important edge and buffer habitat between other habitats, such as woodlands, orchards, or grasslands. Scrub often has dense vegetation cover, which provides ideal nesting habitat for a variety of bird species, as well as providing a nectar source for several invertebrates.
