Summary

If you wish to excavate or place any apparatus in a street you must have a licence before starting any work.

You must apply for a street works licence at least four weeks in advance, or where a road closure is required, three months in advance of the start of the proposed works.

The person granted a street works licence becomes an undertaker and has relevant duties and responsibilities imposed.

Fees

Before we can issue a street works licence, the applicant must pay £544.50 to cover the statutory inspection fees and administration charges.
