Details of provision service

Valley View Ranch offers a calm, structured Alternative Provision set within a working Western riding ranch in the Herefordshire countryside. Our small-scale provision supports learners aged 8–25 who benefit from a practical, outdoor environment where confidence, emotional regulation, and engagement can be rebuilt away from the pressures of a traditional classroom.

Learners take part in a blend of horsemanship, stable management, practical ranch tasks, and where appropriate, supervised riding, alongside personal development and life skills. Our approach focuses on responsibility, routine, and positive relationships with horses and staff. The natural ranch setting provides space, fresh air, and a quieter learning environment that many learners find grounding and motivating.

We operate with high staff ratios to provide safe, personalised support and can accommodate both small group placements and 1:1 provision where required.

Learners can work towards AQA Unit Award Scheme certificates, with units tailored to our horsemanship and ranch-based learning programme.

Every referral begins with a conversation and a visit to the ranch, allowing us to ensure the setting is a good match for the learner’s needs.
