Purpose & Approach
Trewen Meadows offers therapeutic riding, equine-assisted therapy, and hippotherapy to disabled people, those with additional needs, and disadvantaged groups in Herefordshire and surrounding areas. Their work focuses on harnessing the physical, emotional, and social benefits of working with horses to improve wellbeing, confidence, mobility, and quality of life.

Therapeutic Activities
Equine-assisted programmes include:
Therapeutic Riding Sessions
Tailored riding experiences designed to help improve balance, core strength, posture, coordination, and mobility. These sessions are adapted to individual needs and abilities, and can be both physically and emotionally empowering.

Hippotherapy
A specialised physiotherapy delivered on horseback by Vicky Fudge our highly experienced physiotherapist with a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.. This uses the horse’s three-dimensional movement to improve posture, balance, movement patterns, coordination, and muscle strength, especially beneficial for conditions like cerebral palsy and neurological conditions.

Ground-Based Activities
Not all therapy requires riding. Ground-based sessions include grooming, grooming-related tasks, wellbeing activities, and interactive experiences that promote relaxation, confidence, social engagement, stress reduction, and connection with nature.
