Details of provision service

The Cart Shed is a mental health charity delivering therapeutic mental health support for young people who have anxiety or depression. These young people may also be neurodivergent, (autistic, ADHD). We work outdoors in woodland throughout the year. The service is led by an experienced mental health nurse, supported by occupational therapists and tutors skilled in creative arts such as woodcraft, basket making and horticulture. The youngest age group (10-13) also have opportunities to participate in group games, den building and other physical and creative activities. Occasional opportunities to learn forging. Weekly sessions in groups. Transport available from Hereford, Leominster and Kington for those of High School age. The focus of this provision is to support young people experiencing profound anxiety, for whatever reason, to re-engage with learning. Typical period of intervention is 12 weeks, but this can be extended to meet the needs of the young person. Opportunity to support the wider family on our adult programmes or on Different not Less our course for parents of autistic children. Referral is via the website and can be made by school or family member.
