Details of provision service

Acton Mill Care Farm is proud to be an approved Alternative Education Provider that specialises in supporting learning needs of primary and secondary school children. Led by our SENCO, with 16 years experience of main stream and specialist settings, we focus particularly on those with special educational  or social, emotional and mental health needs. We also support children with their education if they are school refusers, severe absentees, suffer with anxiety based school avoidance and find it difficult to thrive in a conventional classroom setting.

The provision will tailor support to enable the students to reintegrate back into full time mainstream education, with bespoke internal curriculum plans devised to meet the individual needs of each student. The curriculum offer can/will include Numeracy, Literacy, PE/Sport, DT, Food, Art, Careers Education, Horticulture, Animal Care, Therapeutic and Mental Health workshops, as well as Character and Personal Development (CPD) education. These will be devised in collaboration with each school that holds the registration for the students.

We also offer students 14+ the chance to enroll onto City & Guilds courses should they want to gain qualifications. We offer courses in Animal Care, Land Based Studies and Skills for Working Life. In addition there are also a range of in house certificates that students work towards achieving in a variety of areas, such as Cooking and Arts & Craft.

We pride ourselves on promoting a love of learning as well as an appreciation of the outdoors. Our mission is to inspire and support young people by delivering high quality, engaging and practical learning opportunities in a safe, supportive environment; helping them to develop the confidence, abilities, behaviours, and well-being that will enable them to cope better with life’s challenges and prepare them for the next stage in their educational journey.
