Testing for Covid-19
The testing programme for Covid-19 is playing a vital role in helping to keep us all safe by identifying those who have the virus so that they can self-isolate and avoid passing the virus to others.
There is national guidance on coronavirus testing, how to get tested and the different types of test available on the GOV.UK website. Everyone is now eligible for testing.
Testing if you have symptoms
There are three testing units in Herefordshire:
- Hereford - Merton Meadow overflow car park, with access from the link road
- Leominster - Broad Street car park
- Ross-on-Wye - Wilton Road car park - open 9am to 3pm - 7 days a week
If you are symptomatic, you can book online for a Covid-19 test at a centre or request a home test kit.
Test results are sent by text, usually within 48 hours of a swab being taken.
If you do not have a mobile phone to access the test result text service and/or need to speak with the NHS Coronavirus testing service, you can dial 119 from any phone.
Testing if you are symptom-free
Around one in three people who are infected with Covid-19 have no symptoms so could be spreading the disease without knowing it. Rapid testing using lateral flow test devices, is a fast and simple way to test people who do not have symptoms of Covid-19, but who may still be positive and spreading the virus.
We now have a number of symptom-free testing sites available for residents who live or work in Herefordshire and do not have any symptoms of Covid-19.
