Herefordshire parking strategy consultation

Have your say on Herefordshire's draft parking strategy. Wednesday 13 May to Wednesday 3 June 2026.

The council is developing a new parking strategy to guide how parking is managed across Herefordshire over the coming years.

The strategy will set the overall direction, priorities and principles for parking, covering issues such as safety, accessibility, enforcement, technology, and how parking supports town centres, communities and the wider transport network.

It is not about setting individual charges or introducing specific schemes, but about agreeing the approach that will shape future decisions.

This consultation is an important part of that process. Parking affects many people in different ways, including residents, businesses, visitors, disabled users and those living in both urban and rural areas.

By consulting, we are seeking to understand how parking is currently used, where it works well, where there are challenges, and what people value most.

This feedback will help ensure the strategy is evidence‑led, locally informed and reflective of real experiences and what is needed in the county.

Consultation also allows us to test proposed policy directions before decisions are made, helping to ensure that future parking policies are fair, proportionate and appropriate for different places and communities.

All responses will be carefully considered and used to refine the final parking strategy before it is considered for approval.

How we'll use the information from this consultation

All responses to this consultation will be carefully reviewed and analysed by the council alongside other evidence, such as parking data, site assessments and stakeholder feedback.

The views shared will help identify common themes, priorities and issues, and will be used to inform the next version of the parking strategy.

Following the consultation, we will publish a summary of the responses received, setting out what people told us and how this has been taken into account.

The draft parking strategy will then be refined before it is considered through the council's decision‑making process.

While not all suggestions can be taken forward, every response will be considered as part of developing a balanced, fair and evidence‑led strategy.

The final parking strategy will provide a framework to guide future parking decisions across Herefordshire.
