Public consultation about a proposed taxi tariff increase. 31 January to 15 February 2019. This is now closed.

Proposed changes for consultation

Herefordshire Council licences and regulates taxi services in the county and sets the maximum fares that hackney carriages and private hire vehicles can charge.

Taxi fares (or tariffs) must cover the costs of operating a taxi in Herefordshire and remain a reasonable rate for the public to pay for the service.

While the actual fare is proposed to remain the same as the existing fare, the proposal is to amend the distances contained within the tariff, this will have the effect of increasing the tariffs by approximately 3 percent.

We propose the following maximum fares from 2019/20 (current fares and distances in brackets):

Tariff one Inclusive of VAT

For each journey not exceeding 660 (690) metres

£2.60 (£2.60)

For each subsequent 67.51 (69.66) metres or part thereof

£0.10 (£0.10)

Waiting time for each period of 20 seconds or part thereof

£0.10 (£0.10)
