Brimfield, Orleton and Little Hereford PFR scheme

Project purpose and background

The locations of Brimfield, Orleton and Little Hereford are settlements where Herefordshire Council has been trying to mitigate against fluvial and pluvial (surface water) flood risk.

After considering a number of options, Property Flood Resilience (PFR) has been identified as the preferred approach.

PFR measures, such as flood barriers or doors, non-return valves and airbrick covers, will be fitted to individual properties to prevent flood water entering homes.

Example of PFR measures

Following a successful grant application to the Environment Agency to access funding for the project, individual property level surveys were initially carried out by RAB Consultants to establish the type and level of PFR which could be fitted at each property.

Lakeside Flood Solutions Ltd have been appointed to carry out the installation and wet testing of the PFR measures. Once installed, RAB Consultants will carry out post installation surveys and we anticipate that the project will be completed in late summer 2024.
