The Herefordshire Environment Board was established in early 2026 and is comprised of volunteer expert representatives from across the county.
The Environment Board will provide strategic leadership and oversight to deliver the Strategic Vision for Herefordshire. It will coordinate, monitor and report on action across climate, nature recovery, and river catchment management, ensuring alignment with statutory obligations and community aspirations
The Board's vision is for "A thriving, resilient, zero-carbon and nature-rich Herefordshire where ecosystems flourish, communities are empowered, and sustainable land and water management underpin climate and biodiversity resilience".

Apply to join the Board
The Board currently comprises a number of core organisational representatives including Herefordshire Council, Environment Agency, Natural England, Midlands Net Zero Hub and the Nutrient Management Board.
The Board is now seeking nine additional Board members who:
- Can demonstrate a personal commitment to the vision of the Board
- Can demonstrate the ability to engage others with the Board
- Bring relevant expertise to the Board
- Play a leadership role within their sector/organisation
- Can take a strategic approach to tackling environmental issues in the county
- Live and/or work within Herefordshire
- Have expertise in: nature, energy, climate, buildings - the built environment and retrofit, land use, farming and food, business, industry and commerce, utilities, health, community organisations, tourism, education and skills, transport and communities
The closing date for applications is 5pm on Monday 2 March 2026.
