Construction work is now almost complete on the new £9 million centre for cyber security in Skylon Park, Hereford Enterprise Zone.

The centre is a joint venture between the University of Wolverhampton and Herefordshire Council. It is part-funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Local Growth Fund.

The shared facilities will allow businesses to benefit from the university's networks and expertise and enable them to use the specialist training rooms and laboratory spaces.

The 2,000 sq m building will provide resources for research and development including:

  • Three cyber laboratories
  • Training facilities as part of the University of Wolverhampton's Cyber Research Institute (WCRI)
  • Business space for up to 16 cyber companies
  • A cyber range - a virtual environment that will help defend against the global rise in hacking
  • A full height glass atrium containing a combined break-out space and function hall
