Children's wellbeing commissioning

Our vision for children's wellbeing is to protect children and give them a great start in life. We will do this by meeting our three priorities which are that:

  • Safeguarding services are judged Good
  • Education and health outcomes are in the top quartile
  • Significant spend is moved from highly specialised safeguarding and complex needs models to more cost effective family and community based models

Collaboration

Our financial position means that we can only work with the most vulnerable children.

We therefore need to work together, building on the strengths and assets that families and communities already have by being the ones who bring up and protect our children.

Networking events

Children's wellbeing networking events take place three times a year and aim to offer stakeholders in the form of providers, voluntary organisations and community groups from a range of sectors and localities, the opportunity to explore and help shape the future of children's wellbeing in Herefordshire.

The events provide an opportunity for meeting and networking with colleagues and partner organisations as well as making new contacts. We use feedback from previous events to help shape the agenda topics.

Service mapping

We are redesigning our service directory and the way that we present information advice and guidance to children, young people and their families. We are doing this with a range of partners so that we can better direct and signpost families to the right service at the right time - including how families can help themselves more and gain the additional support they need within their local communities .

In order to do this we are gathering as much information as we can on what services are currently available to support children, young people and their families across Herefordshire.

Please share your knowledge and expertise and let us know what services you deliver and your wider understanding on what is out there in the community to support children, young people and their families. Please use the template provided to let us know what services you provide and send to ChildrensCommissioning@herefordshire.gov.uk
