Checklist of common questions relating to the Volunteering, Skill and Physical sections

Herefordshire Operating Authority changed to record keeping through eDofE in September 2009.

However there are a number of participants completing their awards under the old Record Book scheme, and these notes are to help guide both Leaders and Participants through the process.

When planning the section

  • In the Volunteering section, has the participant received some form of training?
  • Has practical service been undertaken?
  • In the Skills section, does the instructor/assessor hold or possess the appropriate position, qualification or experience?
  • In the Physical section, does the instructor/assessor hold or possess the appropriate position, qualification or experience?

When completing the record book

  • Has an activity been undertaken which fulfils the conditions of each Section?
  • Have the time requirements as specified in the Handbook been fulfilled?
  • Are the dates entered in each Section correct with regard to the participant's choice?
  • Has there been regular commitment throughout the duration the Section?
  • Has the assessor's report been completed appropriately and signed by the assessor.
  • Has the assessor recorded their position and/or qualification?
  • Has the participant had the opportunity to review their experience in each Section?
