Record book checklist
Herefordshire Operating Authority changed to record
keeping through eDofE in September 2009.
However there are a number of participants completing their
awards under the old Record Book scheme, and these notes
are to help guide both Leaders and Participants through the
process.
Simple checks by the Award Leader will avoid participants
carrying out the wrong activity, and possibly having their
award refused.
General Pages
- Check that the name and address of the Operating Authority
have been stamped on page 1 of the Record Book.
- The participant should complete their personal details and
those of the Unit to which they belong. The date of
enrolment and date of birth are mandatory.
- Check that the participant has reached at least the minimum
age required for that level of the Award:
- No Bronze Award activity should take place before
the participant's 14th birthday unless the Operating
Authority has given approval. The earliest age for
completion of the Bronze Award is 14 ½ years.
- No activity to count for the Silver Award should
take place before the participant's 15th birthday
unless the Operating Authority has given approval to
commence earlier for a participant who has completed
the Bronze Award.
- No activity to count for the Gold Award should take
place before the participant's 16th birthday. The
Operating Authority is not authorised to make any
exceptions for a Gold Award.
- The final date for completion of any Award is the
25th Birthday.
- When the young person progresses to the next Award, or if
they move to another area, the appropriate pages should be
completed and authorised by the Operating Authority.
