Checklist for ventures
All Award Groups operating under the Herefordshire Council
Operating Authority must follow the guidance and procedures for
Off-site
visits issued by the Council. A copy of the Guidance Folder is
available in all schools in the Authority.
Before the final expedition Group leaders must be able to show
that:
- training has been given in safety precautions, basic first
aid, navigation, country code, camp craft, observation,
recording, and the purpose of the venture.
- the training has been signed off in each participants
Record Book.
- at least one practice venture has been undertaken in a
similar type of environment and the appropriate page has been
signed in the Record Book.
- instruction has been given by experienced/qualified persons
acceptable to the Operating Authority.
- If the venture is to be in Wild Country, or on water, an
Expedition Notification Number has been issued by the relevant
Wild Country Panel.
The training and the assessment should be carried out and signed
off by two different people at all levels.
