Age limits

Start at 15
The upper age limit for all Awards is 25.

Time needed

It would usually take between 6-12 months to complete a Silver DofE Award.The table below gives a breakdown of the different sections of the award and their timescales.

	Volunteering	Skills	Physical	Exploration or Expedition
Time Requirement	6 Months	One section of 3 months and one of 6 months		Training and 1 Practice Journey followed by the qualifying venture, which must be 3 days (of 7 hours activity per day) and 2 nights camping
	Plus a further 3 months in one of these sections. Time spent on these activities can be flexible, but should average at least an hour a week.

Participants who have not completed their Bronze Award, must undertake a further Practice Journey and complete a further 6 months in either the Volunteering or the longer of the Skills or Physical Sections.
